Hold an imaginary wheel in front of the camera, standing or sitting. Turn it to steer, push your hands toward the screen for gas, pull back to brake (keep pulling to reverse). The camera stays on your device: nothing is recorded or sent.

Transmission
Manual: E / Q shift up / down (mouse: the on-screen arrows, or scroll the mouse wheel while steering with the mouse).
Manual: RB / LB (R1 / L1) shift up / down.
Manual: tap the arrows at the top left, or swipe up / down on the screen.
Auto clutch shifts clean every time. Manual clutch: hold Shift (or the on-screen CLUTCH) to shift; stop in gear without it and you stall.
How to play
Drive
Gas: W or Up. Brake and reverse: S or Down. Steer: A D or the arrows.
Gas: right trigger (RT / R2). Brake and reverse: left trigger (LT / L2). Steer: left stick.
Gas: hold GAS with your right thumb. Brake and reverse: hold BRAKE. Steer: left thumb (or tilt / the wheel, in Pause > Controls).
Drift & gears
Space = handbrake drift. Automatic by default; Manual in Pause: E / Q shift, Shift = clutch.
A (Cross) = handbrake drift. Automatic by default; Manual in Pause: RB / LB (R1 / L1) shift.
Hold DRIFT to slide round tight turns. Automatic by default; Manual in Pause: the arrows on screen shift.
Cameras & replay
C cycles the 4 driving views (chase, cockpit, hood, far chase). Y = TV replay of the last 45 s. R resets you to the track.
Y (Triangle) cycles the 4 driving views. X (Square) resets you to the track. Replay: Pause > Watch replay.
Tap Cam for the 4 driving views. Tap Reset to get back on the track. Replay: Pause > Watch replay (all 9 cameras: bumper, wheel, drone, TV and orbit too).
Sandstorms
Storms roll in mid-race: visibility drops, the arrow guides you. G puts on goggles (free daily pair, packs in the shop).
Raider Chase
A rusty gang rams and side-swipes you and drops oil slicks. Outrun them, or knock their engines out with the Warthog's roof gun (F).
Animals & obstacles
Deer, a bear and mountain goats cross the course. Watch for quicksand, dust devils, rock slides, flood washouts with a bridge that collapses, and sand mines.
Commentary & music
Six commentary booths call your race (Pause > Commentary). My Music plays your own songs from your device (nothing uploaded).
Race friends & watch
Quick match joins an open race; Race a friend gives you a link. Watch live puts you in any race as a spectator.
Air Wheel (Pro)
Hold an imaginary wheel in front of your webcam. Push hands forward = gas, pull back = brake, OK sign = shift. The camera never records.

TV mode: big text and focus rings for the couch. Controllers work in every menu: D-pad / stick to move, A / Cross to select, B / Circle back, Start / Options / + to pause.

Realism
Hand shifter (Air Wheel, both-hands modes): take your right hand off the wheel and lower it like reaching for a gear stick. Forward (up) = gear up, back (down) = gear down. H-pattern: left column 1/2, middle 3/4, right 5/R, middle row = neutral. Back on the wheel to steer again. Phones start with the quick versions; online races use the host's fuel and break rules.
Hold the wheel still for 3 s to calibrate (Re-centre hands repeats it). Shift: OK sign with the right hand = up, left hand = down. Lift both hands = handbrake (Both hands mode; Relaxed has no lift gesture). Fists together = horn. The camera stays on your device and stops when Air Wheel is off.
Head Control settings
Look at the screen with your head straight for 2 s to calibrate (Re-centre head repeats it). Gas and brake stay on W / S, the pad or the pedals. The camera stays on your device and stops when Head Control is off.
Keyboard steering
Steering sensitivity (keyboard): 50%
Lower = calmer: slower turn-in, less lock at speed, smoother return to centre.
